British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for the public’s help to identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of a passenger’s property from a train.

Officers have today released CCTV images of a man they believe will have information which can assist the investigation into the incident which took place on Tuesday January 8.

Investigating officer, PC Stewart Warne, said: “The female victim boarded the 9.26am Exeter St Davids – London Waterloo service and placed her bag behind her seat. However, when she went to alight from the train at Clapham Junction station, she realised that her bag had been removed.

“Enquiries have been ongoing and, after reviewing CCTV images from on board the train, I would now like to identify and speak to the man in these photographs, as I believe he will have some key information.

“The man I would like to speak to boarded the train at Exeter St Davids station and alighted at Pinhoe station, at around 9.36am. If you know who he is, I would urge you to contact BTP as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

In all calls, please quote incident reference B14/WWA of 04/01/2013.
