Parachutes worth thousands of pounds have been stolen from a van parked on Exmouth seafront.

Police are appealing for help tracing the equipment, stolen from a Volkswagen Transporter van while it was parked near the Imperial Hotel, on The Esplanade, on the evening of January 31.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area between 9pm and 10pm.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said they would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered similar items for sale.

The spokesperson said: “They forced open the passenger door and stole three rucksacks containing Javelin parachutes, valued at £18,000, and a £1,000 MacBook Pro laptop.”

Contact police with information on 101, quoting crime reference KE/14/247.
