The incident happened at 1.40pm on the A3052 at Woodbury Salterton, near the White Horse Inn, and involved a tipper lorry and two cars – a silver Peugeot 307 and a blue Vauxhall Astra van.

The lorry ended up on its roof, with diesel leaking onto the road.

The injured people were freed from their car by the fire service.

One of them was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by air ambulance, and the other by road ambulance.

The road is still closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
