Abuse allegations prompts police appeal

Police are keen to trace a man alleged to have been abusive towards a woman as she walked alone on a footpath in Exmouth

Police have launched an appeal to trace a man alleged to have sworn and become abusive towards a woman while she walked alone near Exmouth.

Officers said a woman was on the Exe estuary footpath, between the lorry park and Carter Avenue, at around 3.45pm on Friday September 7, when she was approached by a man she had seen earlier at Exmouth bus station.

Police community support officer Colin Balch said: “The male became verbally offensive to the female who reported the incident to the police at Exmouth.”

Exmouth police said the man was described as Indian appearance, aged around 30, with a full head of black hair. He was approximately six foot tall and of average build.

He had brown eyes and was wearing dark-coloured jeans and a blue tee-shirt.

Police would like to hear from anyone who knows the man’s identity, or has information about his whereabouts.
