A copper-coloured challenge to light up Exmouth

A group dedicated to ensuring exmouth has Christmas lights has set a seafront challenge to raise much-needed funds
Start saving your two pence pieces because Exmouth Christmas Lights (ECL) is setting the town a seafront challenge.
The group, which is determined to prevent last year’s repeat festive flop when the town could not afford Christmas lights, is looking for 270 groups willing to cover a section of the seafront with 2p coins.
If each group successfully covers 10 metres of the seafront with cash, ECL will raise £2,160 which could help switch on the Christmas lights.
All are invited to take part in the event – Brownie packs, neighbours, sporting groups, clubs or businesses – ECL wants to hear from you.
The challenge takes place on Sunday, September 16.
The aim is to cover some 2700 metres from Orcombe Point to Stuart Line’s ticket office.
The ECL committee hopes each group taking part will cover 10 metres, each with 400 two pence pieces, which will raise £8 from each group.
