12-year-old boy killed in accident with lorry

A 12-year-old boy has died after a road traffic collision near Topsham.

The incident occurred on a zebra crossing on the Topsham side of Countess Wear roundabout, involving the boy, who was a pedestrian, and a skip lorry, at around 3.10pm yesterday (Thursday), according to police.

The boy was initially treated at the scene by a member of the public and then paramedics, before being taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101, quoting log 480 of 28/08/2014.
