It was another quacking day of excitement on Exmouth seafront with the return of the town’s annual Easter Sunday duck race.

The event at Exmouth Fun Park was organised by 299 Squadron Exmouth Air Cadets, taking sole responsibility for the race for the first time having previously helped the now defunct Exmouth Lions Club.

1,000 ducks took to the water, with most having been sold at £1 each to punters hoping to pick up a cash prize.

The final total raised is still being counted, but is thought to be more than £650.

Cadets committee chairman Daniel Smith said: “We were hoping for nicer weather, but it went really well.”

The money raised will go towards new equipment the cadets are hoping to buy this year, including tents, radios, IT equipment, and a long term aim for a new minibus.

Daniel said he would like to thank The Chippy in Exeter Road, Hulham Stores and the RAFA Club for selling tickets, the Journal and Radio Exe for their support, Exmouth Fun Park for hosting the event, and all the cadets who gave up their time to help on the day.
