Higham shines in Robins' Alphas win
BUDLEIGH put in a strong team display and ran out deserved 2-0 winners from their visit to Alphington last weekend.
The opening 45 minutes was a close fought battle with the Robins defence of Owen, Pallett and Paul Rowsell in fine form whilst the midfield trio of Nield, Radford and Schlaefli were working hard.
Sam Schlaefli had the best chance to open the scoring when his close range effort came back off the cross bar and there were also reasonable opportunities served up for Scott Howarth and Sam Bird but neither side could find a goal and the teams went into the break at 0-0.
Budleigh boss Alex Freer, made an early change in the second half with Craig Higham replacing Kaleed Bavavi and the subs impact was instant with the home defence finding life immediately most uncomfortable!
In the 60th minute an excellent cross from Simon Rose was headed home by Schlaefli to give the Robins the lead their approach play deserved.
Craig Higham doubled the lead just five minutes later when his back header from Rose's corner flew in the net.
Tim Bradshaw and Dan Reynold's both looked lively when they were introduced from the bench as Budleigh finished strongly, fully meriting their 2-0 success.
Tony Pallet won the Man of the Match award after the game for his excellent afternoon's work.
