WELL-KNOWN former champion golfer Bill Thomas, who lived for many years in Budleigh Salterton, has died. A member for many years at East Devon Golf Club, Bill, and former special policeman, will be fondly remembered for his great personality and reminiscing of the old days.

THE former matron of Budleigh Salterton hospital has died, aged 94. Emma Elizabeth Hexter (nee Ellett) was born on April 29, 1913, in Exmouth, and as a child lived at Liverton Farm with her two brothers, George and Ernest, and attended Exmouth Grammar School.

THE life of a former Exmouth businessman was celebrated by more than 200 friends and family members last week. Graham Cooling, who founded Aspect Windows with his wife Nina in Exmouth, died at home on March 1. He had been diagnosed with cancer in summer 2007.
