We recently stayed in Exmouth using our motorhome at a local campsite which we have been doing for years now. As usual we bought a copy of the Exmouth Journal and saw the letter regarding ‘What an Eyesore’ relating to motorhomes parked on the seafront.
We enjoy parking on the front, seeing the sea, walking on the beach, along the prom and through the gardens. We always feel Exmouth is a vibrant yet traditional town and always visit some of the local bars and cafés. We support local shops and invariably end up shopping in both the town and in the sea front shops and ice cream kiosks. We love the variety on offer from cricket to kite surfing, from brass bands to art festivals. But what we also love is the cosmopolitan feel that the motorhomes add at the far end of the seafront. People that travel for adventure and discovery of new places.
If you visit the Italian lakes and throughout Europe, motorhomes are embraced and welcomed. I have never seen the seafront look like the camp described by your reader and feel sad that such feelings have been engendered in the same. We love Exmouth, try and like us motorhomers please, and we will continue to support your town and extol its virtues.
