Some letters over the last week’s on your Opinion page make some very valid points on the apparent sheer arrogance of Clinton Devon Estate’s plan for Plumb Park - a massive, unwelcome development in the Maer Valley.
This is along with the traffic chaos these 700-plus cars will bring to Littleham Road and Salterton Road junction and the overload to the already overstreached sewage system.
We should also be aware of the very real risk of flooding these buildings will bring. The fields in question are presently completely sodden and act as huge sponge.
If this very dense housing plan is allowed, most of this area will be covered with an impermeable layer.
This will result in flash surface run off. The natural route being to Littleham brook. This will very quickly back up and lead to flooding up stream, as already seen this winter.
We should think of the possibility of jobs for those attracted to this estate. Although some enhancement is promised to the Liverton park, this will be nowhere near enough to ensure that those housed here, will not be looking to Exeter for employment.
Anyone trying to travel to Exeter on a working morning, will be well aware of the gridlock on the roads.
I also attended the exhibition last year and the vast majority of the comments were against this plan.
CDE has suggested that this will be a new community with benefits to the existing area. I recall that the rejected plan for the Courtlands Cross area, promised a school, shops, doctors surgery etc.
We appear to be being offered... some fruit trees. What Exmouth needs is employment opportunities for those already here. Not just ever more houses for those that work in Exeter.
This is a bad plan, that will bring misery to those already living in the area.
The sewage problem alone will be very expensive to solve. Who will pay for this?
Our water bills are already the highest in the country. This plan will not benefit Exmouth, it will just make CDE richer.
