Subject: the grant to the old Exmouth Tourist Office.
The Tourist Information Centre continued to function throughout the 2011 season until the end of October. So I also do not know why there should be a fuss about the duplicated half-payment for the 2010 season.
Why did the town council not just acknowledge that it was a mistake and regularise the situation by counting it towards the 2011 season? How did they think that the service could function without council support? And just who are they expecting to pay them back the £5,000?
It seems to me to be totally shameful behaviour on the part of a few negative people. Such pettiness is not worthy in a hamlet, let alone in a large town like Exmouth, which is basically thriving, with a population of nearly 40,000 and growing.
The council has washed its hands of tourism, so it should just wipe the slate clean.
