Barely six months since my last letter to your paper (July 29) regarding cycling, I have cause to write again.
Running along the path by the River Otter, ending at Lime Kiln, Budleigh Salterton, I passed a number of walkers - then saw an approaching cyclist!
In the current climate, where what was previously unspoken common sense has to be SPELT OUT, I feel compelled to write again.
Perhaps the cyclist was the same I encountered last July (I don’t think so) but if not, then, the crass stupidity has me bowled over.
On passing, I yelled at him to get off - as it is not a cycle path - and was left fuming for the rest of the run.
Surely, with health and safety ubiquitous - and legal writs abound - the risk of knocking over an elderly or very young or disabled walker, or a dog, for example, must impel the owners of the path (Devon County Council/Clinton Devon Estates?) to look very carefully at preventing similar idiots?
To cyclists, let me spell it out, for clarity: Cycle ONLY on roads or designated cycle paths! NOWHERE ELSE.
