Moving sands

With reference to the shifting sands of The Warren etc.
I was born in Exmouth and worked for a while at the old Octagon Café, which was on the same site as it is now.
This building was a ‘shed-like’ property extending from the pavement out towards the sea.
We served teas and snacks from the part of the building which extended onto the beach (note, onto the beach), which in those days was level with the café and the promenade.
You will see now there is a substantial drop from the pavement to the sand.
Therefore, where has all this sand gone? To Dawlish Warren, perhaps?
