You recently received an email from my daughter Lucy Richardson, who is on holiday but fully involved in running our summer businesses on the Esplanade.
She has stated her support for this hotel.
We have traded since 1990 on Exmouth seafront, firstly with The Beach Shop and ice cream parlour, and until recently with the Channel View Cafe.
During this period, numerous complaints have been sent to East Devon District Council regarding the sale by what people believe to be market traders, not car-booters, of new goods and food without official inspection.
Always we receive a letter stating action would be taken but none has to date – even your paper of January 31 was advertising spaces available for traders and food sellers until the end of March.
We presume all these traders are submitting tax returns and paying business rates as the rest of our hard-working retailers in Exmouth are. Rant over!
Please note, however, we do feel gratified that a national company such as Premier Inn is confident enough to invest in our lovely seaside town.
Together with Mr Quinn at our new bowling alley complex, I wish them both every success.
