Get into gear

OK, so we need to recycle more! That’s what the advertisement in the paper says. Fine, but how? Where are the cardboard bins to help to do that? Most of it goes to landfill as it is.

There is not much point in asking us to save more if we do not get the tools to do it. If the council reckons it has not got any spare cash, then it can take it out of the £400,000 for the café nobody wants.

There are still a lot of plastics that do not carry the recycle logo and that makes it confusing as to what to save and what to throw away where recycling is concerned.

There is still a long way to go, so I cannot blame the council for everything. The government needs to get into gear over this problem and sort it.

Look how much stuff comes packed in polystyrene and that ends up in landfill. Last Christmas, I had a present packed in pre-formed cardboard; now, that was better as it has been recycled.

Maybe the government should up the tax on anything coming into the country that cannot be recycled, encouraging companies to up their game and help keep down the cost of landfill.
