An ode to bowling

I strolled the seafront and what did I see, the new complex minus the scaffolding and polythene.

The men are at work, the windows are in,

won’t be long now, ‘til we are all heading in!

Plenty for the holiday makers

and local families to do!

Jobs for the town, boy do we need that too!

So well done to the planning officer,

who gave the thumbs up!

A nice meal or drink, well that’s up to you,

so sit and relax, enjoy the great views.

A play area for the little ones and

bowling for the teenagers too,

who complain they are bored,

but will now have much more to do.

A venue for the adults, too.

Yes, we like to have fun,

something for everyone, winter or sun!

As for parking, well that’s never changed,

but who needs a car on a nice summer’s day.

A stroll to the venue is a far nicer way.

If walking is not in your mind,

I am sure a taxi you will find.

And if an evening out is what you prefer,

then relax and leave your keys at home

for our local taxis will take you to and fro.

I am but one who can’t wait to see,

the doors open and welcome my family in!

The balcony is calling, a drink in hand,

as I look at the ocean and be thankful

I live in a wonderful town!

So, to the whingers, please tell me I am wrong!

Because if the scaffolding and polythene are still there!

I need to contact Specsavers as my glasses must have gone wrong!
