Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I have just returned home to Australia after 5 weeks travelling around the UK. I spent a week in Cornwall (for my wife's genealogy), and a week in Devon for mine. Unfortunately I was only able to spend a day in Braunton and all of that was at St Braddocks church yard. I have read (in this forum) that the yard was 'tidied up' in the 1960's. This may explain some of my confusion of not finding too many of my relatives.
Anyway does anyone know of the names PARKIN or EVANS. The following info was taken from the 1841 and 1851 census and I am keen to find more out on my ancestors.
In the 1841 Census of Barnstaple, Devon the following was recorded:
Name: Age: Trade:John PARKIN 30 Independant MeansRebecca PARKIN 25 Hannah PARKIN 7They lived on "Church Street, Braunton".================================================================In the 1851 Census of Devon, the following was recorded:Name: Age: Trade:John PARKIN 40 Independant MeansRebecca PARKIN 35 Hannah PARKIN 17John.
