I am trying to find out if any of my paternal grandfathers family still live in Barnstaple. My great grandmother's name was Bessie Howard. She married a man called Richards, and later an Adams. I know she had a daughter called Bessie, I think another called Beatrice, and I think her sons were called William, Thomas, Frankie and Charlie. My grandfather was called Walter Perkins Howard. I would be interested to hear from anyone who can shed any light on this for me. Many thanks Big Smile [:D]

Hi... I just happened to put my familes name into a search with combe Martin. I just came to this site and read your email. I am an Adams.... my paternal family are from combe martin. My dad speaks of as Escot/ Hescott richards who was some relative. A lot of my family are buried behind the church in combe martin... a large family area of Adams! I believe my great granny was a richards. She may have married a richards. There were 2/3 brothers... They built a few houses in Combe Martin and my aunt is still there. Other family members live there too. I think this has to be the same family you ask about. My dad's sister died this week. I will be going to her funeral on friday. I will ask my dad if he knows the name you mentioned.
